My Inspiration

All of my songs and poems began their creation outdoors while playing with my children.  The Nature's Playground series is very much a family project and I am so grateful to my children for motivating and inspiring my new adventures as an author and illustrator.

My son particularly likes suggesting new songs and poems for my books which tend to be rambling accounts of our outdoor adventures to his own melodies. My daughter regularly offers me her dripping paintings as illustrations for my books. (She tries to copy everything that I do and says that she is going to write books when she grows up.) They both wrote invitations which are part of Invitations to Nature's Playground which they are very proud of. It seems right that they can see their work in print as they are so much a part of everything that I write and paint.
